This July, almost 50 O'Brien\u00ae<\/sup> employees took on the challenge to go alcohol-free for a month. Along with achieving their personal goals, they managed to raise much-needed funds for people living with cancer, with the total funds raised placing O'Brien\u00ae<\/sup> in the top 10 of organisations that took part!<\/p>\n

The team from different departments across the business raised just over $14,000 through their own fundraising efforts which was a great result.<\/p>\n

Of those that took part, some days were harder than others to stay Dry in July \u2013 especially when lockdowns started being experienced across the country.<\/p>\n

Dan Lewis, Head of Business Improvement said: \u201cFor those that know me well, they will understand just the size of the challenge Dry July was for me. However, despite the additional pressure of Lockdowns and on the back of amazing support from friends, family and colleagues and mostly the cause itself, I was able to achieve what I set out to and all with NO golden ticket passes along the way. I thank everyone for their support and generosity. I was proud to take part in Dry July and support the work the foundation does in supporting those affected by cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

For others in the team, like Customer Solutions Consultant Jacqueline Laing, the motivation was hugely personal, having lost her grandmother to cancer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI lost my grandmother to cancer and was motivated to take part in Dry July and raise money for charities working with cancer patients. At O'Brien\u00ae<\/sup> we believe in giving back and when you are supported so we\u2019ll to do so just makes it even more inspiring to get involved.\u201d<\/p>\n

Well done to the over 38,000 Australians who took part in Dry July this year, raising over $13 million towards charities supporting those with cancer. O'Brien\u00ae<\/sup> was proud to take part.<\/p>\n
